On the 22nd September at the Virgo new moon, we have a solar eclipse, an event which happens just twice a year. This eclipse is a partial solar eclipse, meaning the transiting moon blocks the light of the sun, but does not cover the sun’s disc completely.
Symbolically, eclipses show us new ways of looking at things and often bring insight and epiphany. 2025 has been a year of massive change - this solar eclipse will help us understand the practical consequences of the paths we have chosen while those yet to make a leap of faith will find it easier to make choices, leaving the old ways behind.
With both sun and moon in the final degree of Virgo, the day before the spring equinox, we are asked to focus on what is truly important at this time in our lives and confidently discard the rest.
As astrologer Dossé-Via Trenou puts it: ‘planting new seeds with discernment, clarity, and gentleness, not tearing yourself apart in pursuit of perfection.’
